carol holtz

Expressive mark-making and complete immersion in the physicality of viscous oil paint, evoke a deeply engaged response to what she sees before her. Whether still life, landscape, or figure, the visual world is a limitless arrangement of abstract form and composition. Each painting reveals her process of head, hand, and heart.

As daily existence in our technological society becomes ephemeral and less tactile, she is drawn more and more to the timeless medium of oil paint. Striving to develop an historical understanding of those who have painted through the centuries. Several recent trips to Umbria and painting in the countryside has been a most informative time in her painting and reflective in her recent series.

Carol received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and resides in the Boston area.
