Malu Tan

One summer, while paragliding in the Swiss alps, I experienced immense beauty, where I was a small yet integral part of the panorama. This enduring feeling has been the guiding mantra of my art practice: that is, to capture the life force of the natural world and to make sense of my place in it.

COLORSCAPE STUDIES

Original acrylic paintings on linen sheets that explore the minimalist and subtle qualities of a landscape with horizontal bands of color, that represent  the sky, trees, and field. These pieces are the preliminary work to her actual paintings.

The simplicity of the horizontal bands, void of detail,  juxtaposed with color and dimensionality, captures one’s attention and invites curiosity. Her work offers a sense of place that is both familiar and new; they explore the deep silence within nature, as well as within ourselves.
